Battle For Brooklyn follows activist Daniel Goldstein’s struggle against politicians and developers who want to convert his neighborhood in Brooklyn’s Prospect Heights into a sports arena for the New Jersey Nets and a series of high-rise buildings.

Last night, the film screened as part of the Rooftop Films Summer Series at Brooklyn’s Ft. Greene Park, just blocks away from the Atlantic Yards development project, and I had the chance to talk to co-directors Michael Galinsky and Suki Hawley. The filmmakers told me they hoped the film could have an impact in the community despite continuing development.

If you’re in New York, you can watch the film starting Friday, June 17, 2011. In the meantime, check out the trailer for the film.
