Filmmaker Bios

Deborah Kaufman was founder and director of the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival. She was a programmer and board member of the multicultural Living Room Festival of Bay Area public television station KQED. She has consulted on many documentary film and video projects and scripts and has been a board member or consultant for a wide variety of multicultural arts and video organizations.

Producer Bari Scott is one of the best known African-American public radio producers in the country. She has been director of the KPFA Radio Third World Department since 1976. She is executive director of the award-winning Telecommunications Radio Project and the upcoming Genome series funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. She has overseen the production of numerous documentaries and specials, including live satellite broadcasts of Nelson Mandela's visit to the Bay Area.

Alan Snitow is a television producer and writer for the top-rated KTVU-TV News at the Bay Area's Fox affiliate station. He is president of Snitow-Kaufman Productions, a non-profit independent production company in Berkeley, CA, specializing in documentary work on cultural and social issues.
