SALT is the video diary, made in collaboration with Michael Angus, of photographer Murray Fredericks' pilgrimages to Lake Eyre, a dramatic counterpart to his stunning, stark and surreal photographs. Forced to overcome rain, mud plains, lightning, equipment failure and the ever-intrusive salt, Fredericks lives for a month with the horizon line as his only reference point and his own thoughts as companion. The breathtaking photographs that emerge punctuate a journey of the mind and spirit. For the artist, isolation and the desolate landscape serve as catalysts for an unexpected personal transformation and a rich story about what can emanate from apparent emptiness.
