Revisiting Vincent was performed at New York Law School on May 22, 2012.
On Tuesday, May 22, 2012, the Asian American Arts Alliance, Asian American Bar Association of New York (AABANY) and the Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) co-presented Revisiting Vincent, a performance adaptation of the Vincent Chin case composed of original trial transcripts, video interviews, and personal testimonies.
Excerpts from the Academy Award-nominated film Who Killed Vincent Chin? (POV 1989) by Christine Choy and Renee Tajima were used in the multimedia performance. The piece was followed by a “talk back” session with The Honorable Denny Chin, United States Circuit Judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and Chancellor Frank Wu, Chancellor and Dean of University of California Hastings College of Law.
Judge Chin, Chancellor Wu and audience members discussed the 1982 Vincent Chin case and its aftermath as the beginning of the Asian American civil rights movement, as well as the persistence of hate crimes and racial attacks against people of color and under-represented groups in the United States.
