You can catch the Boston premiere of Only the Young (POV 2013) on Monday, January 28 at 7 PM at The DocYard, a bi-weekly film and discussion series at the Brattle Theatre in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Filmmaker Jason Tippet will be in attendance for a post-screening Q&A.

Only the Young, directed by Tippet and Elizabeth Mimms, tells the story of children that inhabit a small desert town in Southern California—a town inhabited by foreclosed homes, underpasses, unfilled swimming pools, and skate parks. Three teenagers must create things to do in a place that does not offer much. In observing their day-to-day lives, Tippet and Mimms document the teens discovering friendship, first love, heartbreak, and what it means to be young, effectively capturing the essence of adolescence.

The screening of Only the Young will be preceded by The Voyagers, a short film from experimental filmmaker, Penny Lane. In the summer of 1977, NASA sent Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 on an epic journey into interstellar space. Together and alone, they will travel until the end of the universe.
