Cinema Eye Honors 2011The 2011 Cinema Eye Honors nominees were just announced last week, and we’re thrilled to find that a few POV films are on the list. Lixin Fan‘s Last Train Home, which will be broacast on POV in 2011, has been nominated for seven awards, including Outstanding Achievement in Nonfiction Feature Filmmaking, Direction, Production, Cinematography, Editing, International Feature Film and Audience Choice. Laura PoitrasThe Oath is up for Outstanding Achievement in Nonfiction Feature Filmmaking, Direction and Outstanding Achievement in Production.

Other nominees include Armadillo by Janus Metz, Marwencol by Jeff Malmberg, Exit Through the Gift Shop by Banksy, La Danse – The Paris Opera Ballet by Frederick Wiseman, Restrepro by Tim Hetherington and Sebastian Junger and Sweetgrass by Ilisa Barbash and Lucien Castaing-Taylor. See the full list of films that have been nominated for 2011.

The Cinema Eye team has also made some really exciting announcements — they’re moving the ceremony to the newly renovated Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, Queens — and they’re broadcasting the event on the Documentary Channel. For an awards program that just began in 2007, Cinema Eye has come a long way in just a few years. We’re looking forward to the ceremony on January 18, 2011.
