Emmy Award Statue

We’re excited for the 31st Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards at Lincoln Center tonight. Three POV films have received four nominations, and POV alum Frederick Wiseman (High School, POV 2001) will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The nominated POV films are: The English Surgeon,
The Reckoning: The Battle for the International Criminal Court (two nominations, including Best Documentary) and The Way We Get By.

“These three POV films show that individual action truly can make a difference in the world,” said Simon Kilmurry, executive producer of POV. “From Joan Gaudet, Bill Knight and Jerry Mundy saying ‘thanks’ and giving a hug to returning veterans in The Way We Get By, to Dr. Henry Marsh performing life-saving brain surgery in The English Surgeon, to Luis Moreno-Ocampo and his colleagues standing up to dictators and prosecuting genocide in The Reckoning, the power of people to change the world around them for the better is inspiring.”

We’ll have our fingers crossed for tonight’s ceremony!
