Congratulations to Geoffrey Smith and co-producer Rachel Wexler, who won an Emmy for Outstanding Science and Technology Programming at the 31st Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards last night for The English Surgeon. The English Surgeon was broadcast on POV in 2009.

Geoffrey was in New York to receive the award in person, where he was joined by fellow nominees and POV filmmakers Pamela Yates, Paco de Onis and Peter Kinoy (The Reckoning) and Aron Gaudet and Gita Pillapully (The Way We Get By). PBS President Paula Kerger was also on hand to present the Lifetime Achievement Award to POV alum and documentary legend Frederick Wiseman.
