Amanda Micheli grew up horse crazy in New England. As a

young girl, little Amanda
on a horse she dreamed of being a cowgirl,

so for her first film, she headed West to find her

childhood heroines.

Determined to attempt bronc riding, Micheli enrolls in

Jan Youren's rodeo school, where women learn to use

their feet and spurs and to roll as they fall.

We watch as rider after rider, including

Micheli Amanda's
ride, hangs on briefly

before being tossed to the ground.

Dusting themselves off, they wait their turn for another
brief taste of that inimitable adrenaline rush, massaging
their bumps and bruises. No one even thinks of giving up.

"No matter how much pain we were all feeling by the end
of the weekend," the filmmaker says, "There's something
about those few seconds before you lose it that kept us going."
