In Just for the Ride, cowgirl-hall-of-famer Fern Sawyer takes us on a
memorable tour through her formidable closet.
There she shows off not only her elaborate rodeo suits, but also the
clothes which outfit her in the various other roles of her life-
her "tennis clothes, skiing clothes, women's clothes... "
When she was in the rodeo, Fern didn't dress down. "I didn't
come out in Levi's. I didn't want to look like a man." For her,
the clothes were an important part of the show and the way she
wanted to be seen in it.
Clothes mean something to everybody, even if that something is
nothing. One person's glamour is another person's grief.
