Me again. I am rather disappointed to see that the only kind of shorts styles in vogue for women these days are the real short kind. Don't get me wrong. I like the sight of some well-formed feminine legs. They would be better off staying away from jeans entirely (even looser fitting or baggy one for that matter) if that's their MO. That being said I see nothing wrong with either the baggy fit (Gap and Hilfiger) or cowboy-cut Wranglers (the right size, not two sizes too tight---they'll fit better with time, and yes, Wrangler butts do get a woman's attention, but let's not be too blatant about it) and I wear both. I'm not a "cowboy," (although I live in Texas), but there is a functional look that's much more adaptable (and credible looking) in various situations. It's what I'll call an urban-industrial look that can more easily cross over in various situations, accompanied by Red Wing steel-toe or pecos-style boots, collar-less long-sleeve shirts, tee-shirts, golf shirts, or sweatshirts. Those accessories work well with either the baggy look or the cowboy-cut Wrangler look. Incidentally, I haven't bought anything from Levi since 1994, and I doubt if I will any time soon, given their questionable agenda and inferior product.

Am I supposed to go right up to them and say, "This is how I wanted to look. Got a fucking problem with that?" I would put, it's soooooo hard when they stare at you with those disapproving eyes. My friends will even treat me differently when I wear different outfits or try something new. One of my friends doesn't like to dress in new stuff. It's usually just a stripe t-shirt,plain sweatshirt, blue jeans, and her black shoes. It's not like she just doesn't have enough money, it's because she doesn't like the kinda stuff that is in-style or everyone else is wearing. Why does she have to comment about MY stuff though? BB wears wilder stuff and sometimes doesn't much but no one says anything or disapproves of HER! Why should they care so much about me? I'm running my OWN life and I don't think I need everyone to tell me how bad I look unless I ask for an opinion! So, to all you people that find it FUN to pick on people that you KNOW are having a bad day, well, I just hope you come to school with make-up lines, eye-liner down to your nose, and bad dressing sense so I can ask YOU what happened for a change!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think when you dress like a whore you are treated like a whore and if you are dressed conservatively or even with an attitude then men especially back off because they do not know how to approach a woman with class and attitude and that I assure you is a good thing. Unfortunately, people tend to make some rather overreaching judgements about folks based on their clothing. Einstein, Mother Theresa, Jimmy Carter; none of these people have ever, to my knowledge, been mentioned in GQ or Mademoiselle; but, I'd rather be sitting next to them on a long plane flight than most of the nebbishes I see and talk with in business everyday. Perhaps we'd be better off making our initial acquaintances in the dark and later, being surprised by the physical appearance of the person.

I have noticed that people are generally more cooperative when I am dressed nicely or at least look cool- I would like to think that looks don't matter, but the truth is they really do. People are constantly judged on appearance, whether or not it is obvious. Looks are the first thing people notice, therefore you should always look you best when you need to deal with people you don't know well, whether or not you believe in that crap, it really makes a difference.

I'm just so tired of pleasing people with the way I dress. I'm SICK of it. At my school, if you dress real sporty and trendy...lots of adidas, etc. you're really cool. I hate that stule and I refuse to wear it just so people will like me. Also the "girly" stuff is in, magazine looks you see in 'Teen, Seventeen, YM. I don't have the body for that! Geez! I think the style you wear should be your own style and people should like you for that.

Ladybug, You sorta remind me of the way I dress. I really don't care about the way I look. My wardrobe is mainly Marilyn Manson tee's, and cut off's with my black boots. My mom thinks I need a new style, but I really don't care anymore. My boyfriend died his beard green, and I died my hair pink the other week. It looks pretty cool. I am pleased with the way I dress, it's not like I dress like a whor or anything, I am just looking for comfort!!

I think if you wear extremely weird clothes that are not even real, then you are just looking for attention. Some of the freaks at my school wore ballerina tutu's to school. I think thta is sortof overdoing it. I have some wierd clothes, but I'm not looking for attention, I just want my own style. All my clothes are sixties and seventies. I am satisfied with my wardrobe. I love my shoes!!

i think people prejudge other people based upon what they are wearing and where they buy there clothes from. if they don't spend over a certain amount of money or if they just don't look the right way, people concieve a notion or thought about how you act, talk and behave. Clothes for some people is a way to express emotions that are bottled up inside them and this is one outlet for these feelings to get out. For me clothes are just clothes. I buy clothes that I like and feel comfortable on me, I am not a trendy person, i just buy and wear what I like.

I think people judge you on whether you wear name brand like Nike, Adidas, and Reebok. some people can't afford those name brands. Fortunately I can. Guys also look at whether you wear sporty stuff or if you dress kinda preppy. I tend to do both.

I think that it doesn't matter to me what people think about me when they're "judging the book by the cover." I dress for me, occasionally my boyfriend will ask me to dress nicely, no problem, I have nice clothes that are comfy as well as attractive. But most of the time I just wear jeans and tees, or cutoffs and tees. I have never had any experiences when someone was obviously judging me for what I was wearing, with the exception of my boots. I wear them with everything and many people find it funny when I wear them with dresses and skirts. They joke around with me about wearing them, but never has anyone been unkind about it. I think that people just see me as more of an individual for being able to laugh with them about my wearing them!

But they also influence the way you think of yourself. i.e. if I'm wearing jeans and a t-shirt, i think of myself as a no-nonsense practical type but if I'm dressed up in evening clothes, I have a frame of mind switch and suddenly I am charming and glamorous...
