P.O.V. is dedicated to premiering some of the best, boldest and most innovative nonfiction programs every year on PBS. We're known for putting a human face on pressing contemporary issues. This year, what's more compelling than our nation's presidential election?
As a leading broadcaster of social issue documentary films, we are partnering with several organizations to encourage talented young visionaries to produce work that will address issues related to the elections. We're looking for diverse voices that represent all aspects of our democratic system. Make sure your point of view comes across clearly — be creative in your storytelling and present a unique voice.
Our 2008 season line-up will feature films that touch on the following subjects; your films can be based on these topics or address different ones, as long as they are relevant to the 2008 election:
- Education
- Election Reform
- Environment
- Race Relations
- Foreign Policy
- Health Care
- Immigration
This year, we've partnered with WGBH Lab, NPR, Film Your Issue, and Link TV's Dear American Voter projects because we want to hear your voice during this important election year. Read on to learn more about submitting your own video!

Citizen journalists: submit your videos to PBS and YouTube
PBS and YouTube are teaming up! Check out informative videos from PBS programs on voting and elections, then go out on Election Day and film your voting experience. Upload it to to the PBS channel, and your video may be featured at the Vote 2008 site, on YouTube, or even as part of NewsHour's Election Day coverage on November 4.

WGBH Lab Open Call
Put the "public"' back in Public Broadcasting this election season!
2008's presidential election contest is already one for the history books. All of America is caught up in the excitement and citizens everywhere are eager to vote. This spring, WGBH Lab's Open Call and P.O.V. offer you a chance to make your voice heard before the voting booths open: tell America your election story on PBS.

Now that the producers have entered the Rough Cut stage, they need your feedback more than ever! Now is your chance to review the works that have been created and offer constructive feedback on how they can improve their projects, whether it be through re-cutting, including more footage from the Sandbox, or using different musical cues. What will it take to get YOUR vote this November? Share your story with the world!
Politics is personal and Get My Vote is an opportunity to connect and share the beliefs, issues and ideas that matter most to you as you prepare to vote in the 2008 elections.
Anything that you submit here will be available on NPR's Get My Vote site, as well as featured here in the "What's Your P.O.V.?" section of P.O.V.'s Election 2008 site.
We want to hear what you think — so submit a short (think two minutes or less) video telling us what's on your mind. Be creative and be personal. Tell us a story about what the most important issues are for you — and why.

Link TV's Dear American Voter
Even though only American citizens will be voting in the upcoming U.S. elections, the results are going to affect people all over the world.
Our friends at Link TV have launched Dear American Voter, a site that encourages people everywhere to share their message with Americans — anyone can submit a video letter to Link TV's Dear American Voter. See what citizens of other countries have to say, and speak out!
Film Your Issue 2008 Short Film Competition
In May, Brandan Odum's New Orleans for Sale was awarded the P.O.V. prize for the Film Your Issue short film competition.

This competition was open to anyone around the world between 14-24 to submit their work for a chance to win some pretty cool awards, including the opportunity for a paid internship at P.O.V. and to have their film showcased on the P.O.V. website!
