Filmmaker Bio

Zachary HeinzerlingZachary Heinzerling (Director/Cinematographer) is a film director based in Brooklyn, N.Y. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor's degree in philosophy. Cutie and the Boxer is his debut feature, for which he won the Charles E. Guggenheim Emerging Artist Award at the 2013 Full Frame Documentary Film Festival. The film was featured on many Top 10 film lists of 2013, including that of A.O. Scott from The New York Times and Joe Morgenstern of The Wall Street Journal. In addition, Heinzerling was selected as one of 25 filmmakers for the Film Society of Lincoln Center and IFP's Emerging Visions Program during the 2011 New York Film Festival. He has worked on several feature-length films for HBO and PBS, including four Emmy Award-winning documentaries, as a field producer and cinematographer.
