Filmmaker Bios

Susana Aikin is an independent video maker and writer, working in New York since 1983. Much of her work in documentary involves the experience of Latino communities in America. Her works include: NY Pier 34, The Salt Mines, and Sao Paulo - New York Video Letters. In 1995 she received a Rockefeller Foundation Fellowship and an American Film Institute Grant.

Carlos Aparicio is an independent video maker and professional videographer, working in the U.S. since 1980. He worked with Aikin on NY Pier 34 and The Salt Mines. His other works include: The State of Black America, Harlem Under Siege, and The Masked. Among his awards are a 1993 Rockefeller Foundation Fellowship and a 1995 American Film Institute Grant.
