Emily AbtCambridge, Massachusetts native Emily Abt is a graduate of New York University, where she served as president of the Women's Center and received the NYU President's Service Award for her dedication to public service. In 1996, she was selected by the New York City Mayor's office to be a Government Scholar. After graduation, she worked for AmericaWorks, a private employment agency for welfare recipients. In 1998, Abt worked as an extras coordinator on the Oscar-winning feature, Boys Don't Cry. She also helped coordinate an outreach and education campaign for the HBO criminal justice documentary, Innocent Until Proven Guilty. Abt has established her own film company, Pureland Pictures, while attending the graduate film program at Columbia University. Take It From Me is Emily Abt's first film.
