Filmmaker Bio

Laura Angelica SimonLaura Angelica Simón was born in Mexico and lived there until the age of six when her family emigrated to America. Simón began her career working for a non-profit organization that dealt with immigrant rights and education. When the organization fell into bankruptcy she sought employment as a substitute elementary teacher where she was quickly hired and later promoted to full-time status teaching third graders. Simón's personal odyssey and involvement with the plight of her students led her to the making of Fear and Learning at Hoover Elementary.
