Filmmaker Bio

Arthur DongArthur Dong is the producer/director of several acclaimed independent documentaries spanning over 20 years. His first, Sewing Woman, was nominated for an Academy Award, for Best Documentary Short. His other credits, including Forbidden City, U.S.A.; Coming Out Under Fire; and Licensed to Kill, have earned him the Peabody Award, three Sundance Film Festival awards, five Emmy nominations and two GLAAD Media Awards. Dong grew up in San Francisco's Chinatown, and is a graduate of the Film School at San Francisco State University and the American Film Institute's Center for Advanced Film and Television Studies.

He is currently on the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, representing the Documentary Branch.
