Ezekiel J. Emanuel, M.D., Ph.D., currently works as a special advisor on health to the director at the Office of Management and Budget.
Prior to that, Dr. Emanuel was the chair of the Department of Bioethics at the Clinical Center of the National Institutes of Health and a breast oncologist. He has written three books and edited four books including Healthcare, Guaranteed: A Simple, Secure Solution for America. He has been a visiting professor at the UCLA, Johns Hopkins and Stanford medical schools. He lives in Washington, D.C.
Ron Pollack is the founding executive director of Families USA, a national organization for health care consumers.
Prior to holding his current position at Families USA, Mr. Pollack was the dean of the Antioch School of Law. Mr. Pollack was also the founding executive director of the Food Research and Action Center (FRAC), a leading national organization focused on eliminating hunger in the United States. He is a frequent guest on a variety of television and radio programs, such as The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, NBC's Today show, ABC's Good Morning America, CNN's Lou Dobbs Tonight, all of the network nightly news programs, and NPR's All Things Considered and Morning Edition. He is often quoted in such leading newspapers as The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal and The Los Angeles Times.
Joanne Silberner is a health policy correspondent for National Public Radio. She covers medicine, health reform and changes in the health care marketplace.
Ms. Silberner has been with NPR since 1992. Prior to that she spent five years covering consumer health and medical research at U.S. News & World Report. In addition she has worked at the magazines Science News and Science Digest, and has freelanced for various publications. She has published work in The Washington Post, Health, USA Today, American Health, Practical Horseman, Encyclopedia Britannica and others.
