Ready to host your own I'm Carolyn Parker It's easy--red carpet not required! Here's a guide to getting started.

Set a date and place -- Invite as many people as you like to your home, school, community center or any location to watch I'm Carolyn Parker on your television or laptop. I'm Carolyn Parker will have its national broadcast premiere onThursday, September 20th at 10 p.m. (check local listings). Host your party the night of the premiere or during the first two weeks that the film is streaming online. http://video.pbs.org.

Talk about the film -- Encourage your guests to share their insights and reactions. You can also give your guests a bit of context about the film (head over to the Film Description to read more about the film, and see what the filmmaker has to say).
One way to get a discussion going is to pose a general question such as:
- If you could ask anyone in the film a single question, who would you ask and what would you ask him or her?
- What did you learn from this film? What insights did it provide?
- Describe a moment or scene in the film that you found particularly disturbing or moving. What was it about that scene that was especially compelling for you?
Or try a film-specific discussion question:
- At the beginning of the film, Father Joe describes Carolyn Parker saying, "Miss Parker is a trip." How would you describe her? How do you think that people she has confronted would describe her (like the people on the panel at the town meeting)? How do we (and media outlets) use adjectives to cast someone as a role model or, alternatively, as a troublemaker?
- Carolyn's daughter Kyrah knows that her success in school and as a college scholarship recipient is often met with surprise because she is from the Lower Ninth Ward, "Where they said that none of us would make it." How did such assumptions about life in the Lower Ninth Ward influence recovery efforts and the allocation of resources for rebuilding?
- Carolyn Parker announces to the panel at the town hall meeting, "I didn't die with Katrina." In your view, why did she think the panelists needed to hear those words? Besides her body, what does Carolyn want to keep alive? What would successfully surviving Katrina look like?
