Filmmaker Bio

Doug WolenAfter earning two BA degrees, a law degree, and spending seven years as a practicing attorney, Doug Wolens became a filmmaker in 1993. His first short, Happy Loving Couples, was selected to screen at the Sundance Film Festival. He's made two other shorts, Reversal (1994) and In Frame (1995), the latter of which aired nationally on the Sundance Channel. His 1996 feature, Weed, premiered at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam and had a 40-city theatrical tour of the U.S.

Wolens has written, produced, directed, shot, and edited all his films. The feature-length Butterfly was shot on film and edited on a home computer. He is currently developing a new feature documentary emphasizing the convergence of information technology with the "old industrial economy."

Wolens is a Chicago native and a graduate of the University of Oregon and Seton Hall University Law School.
