POV Receives the Missouri Honor Medal for Distinguished Service in Journalism

The Missouri School of Journalism awarded the Missouri Honor Medal for Distinguished Service in Journalism to POV in recognition of almost three decades of creating public dialogue about important social issues through documentary journalism.

POV’s Vice President of Content Strategy and Engagement Eliza Licht accepted the medal on behalf of POV at the ceremony on Sunday, as our series was cited for continuing “to challenge the notion of television as a one-way medium by creating pioneering models and innovative broadcast-related projects designed to maximize television’s potential.”

The Missouri School of Journalism has administered the prestigious award since 1930. The faculty of the School of Journalism selects medalists “on the basis of lifetime or superior achievement, for distinguished service performed in such lines of journalistic endeavor as shall be selected each year for consideration.”

POV was among six medalists honored, along with the AAF Mosaic Center for Multiculturalism, photojournalist Rick Clarkson, St. Louis Post-Dispatch columnist Tony Messenger, Hollywood Reporter-Billboard Media Group CEO Janice Min and Politico.

POV extends its gratitude to the University Of Missouri and congratulates our incredibly dedicated staff and filmmakers, past and present!
