We’d like to express our gratitude to POV’s friends and family who supported independent documentaries by donating to POV and spreading the word over social media during our Annual Appeal. With your contributions, POV surpassed our fundraising goal to support our upcoming season of acclaimed, provocative films unlike anything else on television.

The theme of this year’s annual appeal campaign was “I love docs” because we wanted to hear from you — our friends and fans — about why you think independent documentary film is important! We are extremely thankful for your support, from your tweets and posts using the hashtag #ilovedocs, to the #unselfie images many of you shared.

We had help this year from some wonderful filmmakers who jumped in to spread the word about POV’s annual appeal through their own social media channels. Check out this great #unselfie posted on twitter by documentary filmmaker Juan Carlos Zaldivar (@phonographfilms):

Please consider doubling the impact of your donation by asking employers to match your contributions by giving your HR department a copy of your POV donation acknowledgement email.

The entire POV team extends our heartfelt thanks to all who supported independent films. The holiday season brings out incredible generosity in our supporters, and that generosity is what makes it possible for us to continue bringing you the documentaries that you love!
