Earlier this year, with support from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), we were thrilled to award grants to PBS stations across the country to organize programming and events around American Promise and Brooklyn Castle.

The stations are bringing together schools, organizations and viewers to take part in discussions and action around after-school programming, graduation rates, the black male achievement gap and more. The films and events are part of American Graduate: Let’s Make It Happen, a public media initiative made possible by CPB to help communities identify and implement solutions to improve high school graduation rates.  Sixteen stations have held over 50 events, from in-school screenings and discussions to community-wide dialogues and talk-backs.
