are now open for POV Hackathon, the weekend laboratory that since 2012 has provided matchmaking and mentorship for visionary nonfiction media makers and inventive technologists as they create prototypes that re-invent the documentary for the web.
POV Hackathon 5 (May 10-11, 2014) will take place in New York City at The Center for Social Innovation.
POV Hackathon 6 (May 17-18, 2014), which marks the first time the non-fiction technology lab has been based in Los Angeles, will take place the following weekend in partnership with CreatorUp!, the place where anyone can learn to make great video content, and Hub LA, a creative incubator to connect, start, create, learn and share.
Applications for both labs are due Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at 8 PM ET / 5 PM PT. Apply now or read more.
POV Hackathon has had a 100% prototype production rate, and teams have often continued to work together, premiering finished products at high-profile events such as the Tribeca Film Festival and the New York Film Festival, while other teams have attracted new funding, from organizations such as the Knight Foundation. Fast Company recently called POV Hackathon one of 2014’s “most anticipated events.” Don’t miss your chance to participate!
