Hispanic Heritage Month starts this weekend, September 15 and is celebrated through October 15. POV documentaries are a great way to commemorate the occasion in your classroom or community. You can borrow full DVDs from our free Lending Library, or visit our Educators page to access standards-aligned lesson plans and streaming clips for use in the classroom. POV films span a range of topics and countries, from a donkey library in Columbia, to female matadors in Spain, to the U.S. Mexico border, to astronomers in Chile and more. Latino Americans, a landmark six-hour documentary series chronicling the lives and experiences of Latinos in the United States from the 1500s through the 21st century, will premiere on PBS September 17, at 8 PM ET on PBS (check local listings).
