The week of books is upon us.

Every April since 1958 the American Library Association (ALA) has celebrated the contributions of our nation’s libraries and library workers. Over 50 years later, we’ll celebrate National Library Week (April 14-20) and National Bookmobile Day (April 17) with seven of our library partners as they screen Biblioburro: The Donkey Library (POV 2011), the story of a Colombian grade-school teacher who spends his weekends bringing books to the children of Magdalena with the help of his two donkeys.

This year’s theme is, appropriately, “Communities matter @ your library,” reminding us all that libraries can be vital community hubs that bring people together around unique programming and activities, whether through digital resources or a POV screening and discussion.
