ARTS ENGINE, INC & REEL LIVES proudly launch the 12th Media That Matters™ Showcase with a world premiere at the historic Downtown Community Television Center (DCTV) on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 7 PM. Featuring twelve short films on the most important issues of the day, this screening is open to the public with a suggested $6 donation at the door; students and youth will be admitted for free.
The 12th Media That Matters Showcase (MTM12) marks the final year programmed by Founding Partner Arts Engine. After prescreening hundreds of submissions from over 20 countries, Arts Engine invited a jury of activists, educators, and filmmakers to select the year’s twelve award winners. Arts Engine officially closed its doors this September and announced the new home for the curated Media That Matters collection and crowdsourced MediaRights.org with Reel Lives. Reel Lives is an international youth media organization that will “ensure the longevity of the programs for years to come.” Over the summer, Arts Engine transitioned over 180 Media That Matters short films to Presenting Partner Reel Lives, who look forward to unveiling the new face of MTM in 2013 with a more prominent focus on education and youth participation.
