Señorita Extraviada by Lourdes Portillo

Join the Center for Diversity and Integrated Learning (CDIL) for a free screening of Señorita Extraviada as part of their Campus Crossroads series. Campus Crossroads presents a free screening on the first Tuesday of each month, to facilitate conversation about intersections of identity and community. For more information, visit the Santa Fe Community College Integrated Learning Facebook page.

The CDIL strives towards building community, discussing social justice issues, creating a living classroom, and raising awareness for overlooked issues. Señorita Extraviada showcases a community in need of protection, and a topic in need of understanding.

Señorita Extraviada Conversation Starter: Since 1993, over 270 young women of Juárez, Mexico have been raped and murdered. Many of these women occupied roles which the authorities would prefer to ignore — some were prostitutes, and some were simply poor, though others were workers or students. What can this phenomenon teach us about the importance of giving a voice to the voiceless?

Visit our local events calendar for a full list of events happening across the country and join our Community Network to host a screening of your own!
