Encore Broadcast of Critical Favorite 'Food, Inc.' Tonight on POV

The Oscar-nominated blockbuster Food, Inc. is back by popular demand! POV will present an encore broadcast of Robert Kenner’s groundbreaking documentary on many PBS stations tonight, Tuesday, August 9, 2011. Check your local listings.

Featuring interviews with such experts as Eric Schlosser (“Fast Food Nation”), Michael Pollan (“The Omnivore’s Dilemma”) and forward-thinking social entrepreneurs such as Stonyfield Farms’ Gary Hirschberg and Polyface Farms’ Joel Salatin, Food, Inc. reveals surprising — and often shocking truths — about what we eat, how it’s produced, who we have become as a nation and where we are going from here.

Here’s just a sampling of rave reviews Food, Inc. has received:

Peter Travers of Rolling Stone says, “Don’t take another bite till you see Robert Kenner’s Food, Inc., an essential, indelible documentary.”

The New Yorker‘s David Denby calls the documentary “powerful” and says it is an “angry blast of disgust aimed at the American food industry.”

Manohla Dargis of The New York Times says, “the movie is nothing if not ambitious.”

O, The Oprah magazine says Food, Inc. “might change your life.”

New York Magazine‘s David Edelstein says, “See it. Bring your kids if you have them. Bring someone else’s kids if you don’t.”

Film Journal International‘s Maria Garcia writes Food, Inc. is “a cleverly written and well produced documentary. Kenner crafts an intelligent, visually compelling argument grounded in old-fashioned investigative research and journalism.”

To get you in the mood for watching Food, Inc. tonight, co-producer and author Eric Schlosser appeared on The Colbert Report to discuss why we should all be more conscious of what we eat.
