Through the years, POV has tackled some tough issues, programming films that explore some of the most horrific human rights violations of our time. In Community Engagement & Education, it’s our hope that through building community screening partnerships we can empower audiences with knowledge and new perspectives. This season is no exception.
With Enemies of the People, Biblioburro and Mugabe and the White African, we’re taken from the killing fields in Cambodia to the the rural villages of Colombia to the farm of one proud “white African” in Zimbabwe. We’re fortunate to be working with so many fantastic organizations who are creatively and energetically planning and facilitating screening events of these films across the country. By inviting their local communities to engage with these important issues, these groups are spreading awareness and inspiring change.

Come to a sneak preview screening of Biblioburro: The Donkey Library, the story of a Colombian grade-school teacher Luis Soriano who was inspired to spend his weekends bringing a modest collection of precious books, via two hard-working donkeys, to the children of Magdalena Province’s poor and violence-ridden interior.
