POV received a record 12 nominations in the 32nd Annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards, including a nomination in the Outstanding Arts & Culture Programming category for the 2010 StoryCorps Animated Series.

On August 23, PBS will broadcast the two newest shorts from StoryCorps as part of POV Short Cuts, an impressive one-hour collection of documentary shorts by established and emerging filmmakers, with stories ranging in subject from competitive birdwatching (Big Birding Day) to plastic surgery (Flawed) to adoption in Poland (Six Weeks) to a Tiffany lamp (Tiffany).

Beginning next week, these shorts will be screened across the country — in libraries, museums and coffee shops — and StoryCorps’ creators will even be present for a discussion at a special Brooklyn Museum screening next Thursday, July 28, 2011, at 7 PM!
