With the issuance of Executive Order 9066 in 1942, thousands of Japanese Americans were condemned to forced internment. Among them was Fred Korematsu, whose Supreme Court battle against the order ended in 1944 when it was upheld as constitutional. In Of Civil Wrongs and Rights, Korematsu’s 40-year legal fight to reverse his original conviction unfolds.

Next week, POV community partner Minnesota Asian Pacific American Bar Association will reflect on Korematsu’s landmark case with the Honorable Magistrate Judge Tony Leung and the Twin Cities Japanese American Citizens League.
