Whether you’re buying a new camera or choosing which lens to rent for a shoot, deciding on gear requires some thoughtful research. We asked documentarians to share their experiences with everything from cameras and lenses to animation software and mobile apps and created an equipment guide based on what filmmakers are actually using in the field. The graphic is now updated with more categories for filmmakers to explore.
