Filmmaker Bios

R.J. Cutler and David Van TaylorR.J. Cutler produced the 1994 film The War Room -- a feature length documentary about Bill Clinton's first campaign for the presidency. It was nominated for an Academy Award and was named Best Documentary of the Year by the National Board of Review. Cutler's most recent film, Anita Liberty, a short which he directed and co-wrote, premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival. He combined his film production activities with his full-time role as the producer of the weekly television program Edgewise, which aired on MSNBC from 1996 to 1997.

David Van Taylor is a producer and director whose credits include the landmark PBS series With God on Our Side, a program The Boston Globe called "a godsend...[with] an intellectual scope rare for TV." His film Dream Deceivers: The Story Behind James Vance vs. Judas Priest (POV 1992) was honored with a Distinguished Achievement Award from the International Documentary Association and an Emmy nomination. Van Taylor's other credits include producing segments for Michael Moore's TV Nation and for MTV.
